As part of celebration of the 1000th year anniversary of the first mention of Lithuania name in written sources and as part of various cultural events that take place in Vilnius - European Capital of Culture of 2009 year, on 5th December, 2009 in the hall of Vilnius Evangelical Faith Christian Church House of Prayer was held Evening of open doors of Evangelical Churches in Vilnius. During this evening there were presented only those evangelical churches, which are part of the national unions.
At the beginning welcome speech said the representative of “Pax et Bonum” Vilia Grigonyte. Bishop of the Union of Pentecostal Churches of Lithuania (UPCL) Rimantas Kupstys said short prayer. Few modern songs performed joined children's choir “Valio”.
Bishop Rimantas Kupstys introduced history fragments of the Churches of UPCL. Pastor Anatoly Dmitruk presented another Pentecostal Union of Lithuania – “Evangelical Christians Pentecostal Church”. Also there were presented churches of the Unions of Methodists, Baptists, Free Christian Church, and Christian Fellowship “Vineyard”. "House of Prayer” church choir, worship groups from the churches “Bible Way” and Free Christian Church, the joined group from Vilnius Baptists and Methodists churches, soloists from the Methodist Church and Church House of Prayer sang between ministers’ speeches about history of their movements.
President of the Vilnius Theological College Ivanas Shkulis preached on the theme “oneness”.
“Good News” center director Remigijus Yutsyavichyus was MC of the evening.
A three-hour evening program ended with the singing of well known hymn “How great Thou art” in Lithuanian and Russian languages.
The wish was expressed to make such open evenings traditional.
